Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Entering his fifth year on the staff, Emerson Jones has been an integral part of the Fort Valley State Men’s Basketball coaching longer than anyone else on the current program’s staff. Jones moved up to a Graduate Assistant Coach role this season after being a student assistant for the past four years.

Bringing many attributes to the Wildcat coaching staff, Jones brings a lot of fire and energy to the men’s basketball program. He helps the players in the areas of skill development, player development, film breakdown and recruiting.

During his second season with FVSU (2019-20), Emerson tutored former player Shawn Foxbrennen with his skill development to aid his rise to being an All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second Team honoree.

Coach Jones comes from Westover (Ga.) High School where he played for four years. While there, Jones was part of two Region Championships and made two Georgia Final Four appearances.

Emerson graduated from Fort Valley State University in the Spring of 2022 where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Currently, Jones is pursuing his master’s degree at FVSU in Rehabilitation Counseling.
