Fort Valley State University’s Director of Athletic, Dr. Darryl Pope, has announced the hiring of Jason Bryant as the eighth Head Women’s Volleyball Coach and fifth Head Softball Coach.
 
“Jason Bryant is a coach who has dedicated himself to bringing out the best in his players.” Darryl Pope said. “He brings to Fort Valley State a get it done attitude that will help both the women’s volleyball and softball teams grow and prosper.”
 
A native of Augusta, Ga., Bryant comes to Fort Valley State after 16 years of service at Brewton Parker College. At Brewton Parker, Jason coached the women’s volleyball team for 15 years while winning 209 games, and two time winner of the South Division and went to the National twice.  Bryant notched his 200th career win in volleyball on September 8th, 2011 over the Panthers of Clark Atlanta University.
 
Coach Bryant was the Women’s Head Softball Coach for 13 years while compiling a record of 369 wins. He collected his 300th win over the Lady Wildcats of FVSU on March 4th, 2013 by a score of 1-0. He was named the Southern State Coach of the Year in 2004. Also, Bryant was the Dean of Men at Brewton Parker for one year.
 
Jason served as Director of Athletics at Robert Toombs Christian Academy as well as Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Head Baseball Coach. Then, in 1998 he was named Georgia State Coach of the Year.
 
Bryant attended Westside High School in Augusta, Ga., and went on to play basketball at Tomlinson College in Cleveland, Tn. Jason holds a Master’s degree in Theology.
 
Jason is married to Jill and they have two sons (Jordon and Jevon) and one daughter (Haydon).
