The Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State University (FVSU) cruised to the quarterfinal round of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Softball Championship with a 14-1 win over the Lady Panthers of Claflin University. Wasting little time, the Lady Wildcats scored four runs in the bottom of the fist inning to set the tone for what would be an early finish for FVSU. Leading 14-1 at the end of five innings, the game was called based upon the conference "eight run rule."
Sophomore
Jessica Buchanan led the Lady Wildcats with three runs batted in (RBI). Right fielder
Katara Wilson had two hits on four plate appearances. She also scored two runs with two RBI.
Senior pitcher
Ronkeya Garner was credited with the win for the Lady Wildcats while Emily Arnold took the loss for Claflin.
The Lady Wildcats will meet the Thorobrettes of Kentucky State University in quarterfinal action of the SIAC Championship tomorrow (Friday, April 22nd) at 2 p.m. at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, GA.
