Joshuah Davis (Augusta, GA) scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University (11-5; 7-0)to a 72-64 victory over Paine College Lions (7-8; 3-3) and remain undefeated in SIAC action on Saturday night, January 18 at the HPE Complex.
Paine led the Wildcats at halftime 34-29 and the Wildcats scored on 22-of-56 shots for the game for 39.3 percent shooting, 7-of-19 three pointers for 36.8 percent and made 21-of-28 free throws for 75 percent. The Lions shot 25-of-58 times from the floor for 43.1 percent, 6-of-16 shots from behind the arc for 37.5 percent and 8-of-16 foul shots for 50 percent. FVSU grabbed 40 rebounds to Paine's 34 for the game and 13-to-12 assist.
Davis made 6-of-13 shots from the floor, 3-of-6 three pointers, went 6-for-7 at the free throw line, 3 assist, one block and 2 steals, while senior forward
Corey Hunter (Cincinnati, OH) added 16 points and 8 rebounds, as well as 3 assist and 3 steals. Senior forward
Brandon Davey (Warner Robins, GA) was the only player to post a double-double 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Davey was 5-of-6 at the foul line, 3 assist, one block and one steal and senior forward
Nigel Domineck (Atlanta, GA) connected for 14 points and 7 boards, 2 assist, one block and one steal.
Sean Morgan scored 15 points to lead Paine, as Toby Veal had 6 rebounds and Adrian Caldwell a game-high 7 assist.
The Wildcats will host the Tigers of Benedict College on Monday, January 20 at 8 p.m. in the HPE Complex.
