FORT VALLEY, GA (November 17, 2014) – The season opener for Fort Valley State (0-1)did not go as planned, as Middle Georgia State College (1-0) defeated the Wildcats 76-59 on Monday night at HPE Complex.
The Wildcats shot just 28.1% (9-32) from the floor in the first half, 25% (3-12) in three's and 40% at the foul line. The Knights hit 18-of-37 (48.6%) from the field, 31.3% in 3-pointers and 5-of-9 (55.6%) free throws.
For the game, FVSU made 20-of-61 field goal for 32.8%, while shooting 44.1% (15-34) on the foul line. MGS scored on 26-of-74 (35.1%) baskets, 8-of-30 trays and 66.7% (16-24) foul shooting.
The Knights out rebounded the Wildcats 52-48 and 66.7% (16-24) foul shooting.

MGS was led by David Bivins in scoring with 15-points, 7 assist and Seth Coleman with 12 rebounds.
The Wildcats next home game is Wednesday night, November 19, as they host Georgia Southwestern University at 7:30 p.m.
