Box Score FORT VALLEY, GA (February 8, 2014) – Senior forward
Brandon Davey (Warner Robins, GA) led all scorers and rebounders with 19 points and 11 rebounds as Fort Valley State University Wildcats (15-6; 11-1) defeated the Tigers of Benedict College (13-9; 8-6) 69-66 for the second time this season on Saturday in Columbia. The Wildcats won 74-63 the first time around on January 20 in Fort Valley.
Davey scored 17 points and grabbed 9 boards to lead the Wildcats at halftime while leading 42-39. FVSU shot 54.8 percent from the floor and 80.0 percent at the line and Benedict was 39.3 percent in shooting and 73.3 percent at the foul line.

Joshuah Davis (Augusta, GA) dunk for a 4-0 lead. Benedict's Lamar Adkins hit two free throws and tied the game at 4-4 with 17:26 left. Both teams went back and forth, before FVSU's sophomore center
Ralph Wilson (Americus, GA) grabbed an offensive rebound, made the layup for a 30-25 FVSU lead with 6:05 to go. With 3:19 left senior forward
Corey Hunter (Cincinnati, OH) sank a 3-pointer to increase the lead to 40-35, but Brenna Reynard's 3-pointer with .36 second left to halftime cut the lead to 42-39.
Davey scored on 9-of-19 shots, 1-of-5 in 3-pointers and two assist, while Davis put up 14, 6 rebounds and went 4-for-4 at the foul line. Hunter added 15 points and made 5-of-5 shots from the floor, 3-for-3 in 3-pointers and 2-for-2 at the free throw line and Wilson finished with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
Benedict's Justin Peeples and Lamar Adkins had 13 apiece and Andrew Crawford had 8 rebounds.
Benedict's Deonte Johnson made things close twice by tying the game at 51-51 with 11:58 remaining and again with 6:47 left 57-57. Hunter sank a three to give FVSU the lead for good with 6:30 left and with 2:15 to go,
Anthony Bell made two free throws to increase the score to 67-62. Andrew Crawford made a three to make the score 67-65 with 1:44 to go. Johnson had the chance to tie, but missed the front end of two foul shots 67-66 with .17 seconds left, then Hunter's two free throws sealed the deal with .10 seconds left.
The Wildcats scored on 26-of-53 shots for 49.1 percent, 6-of-16 three's for 37.5 percent and 11-of-16 free throws for 68.8 percent and Benedict made 20-of-54 field goals and 19-of-29 foul shots for 65.5 percent. FVSU almost doubled Benedict in rebounding 41-28.
FVSU returns home for senior night on Saturday, February 15 as they host Claflin University at 8 pm.
