WILDCATS DROPS GAME TO ALDERSON BROADDUS

FORT VALLEY, GA (October 3, 2015) – Fort Valley State University Wildcats let one get away with 30 seconds remaining in the game Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium. Alderson Broaddus University fault from behind for the 27-20 win, as Dillon Schoolcraft caught the game winning touchdown pass in the left end zone giving the Battlers the lead 21-20.
 
The Wildcats overall record falls to 3-2 and 3-0 in the SIAC, while Alderson Broaddus remains unbeaten at 5-0.
 
FVSU maintained control of the game through the three quarters 20-7. Sophomore kicker/punter Juan Serna kicked two field goals in the first quarter, a 44-yarder and 46-yarder to draw to within one (6-7). Serna 44-yard kick with 7:15 remaining in the first capped a 15-play, 48-yard drive and his 46-yard kick with 1:10 left finished a 10 play, 36-yard drive.
 
Alderson Broaddus quarterback Wilson Vaughn completed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Tory Lee for the 7-3 lead with 4:33 on the clock (Jordan Butler kick was good).
 
Then, with 59 seconds left to halftime,  the Wildcats regained the lead on sophomore wide receiver Drelon Freeman 21-yard touchdown catch from senior quarterback Malcolm Eady to complete a 9 play, 70-yard drive (Serna kick was good) 13-7.
 
Freeman grabbed another Eady touchdown pass from 20-yards out with 5:37 left in the third quarter to increase the lead 20-7 (Serna kick was good).
 
Alderson Broaddus controlled the fourth quarter with 20 unanswered points.  Lee scored from 11-yards out on Dakota Bruggeman touchdown pass at the 5:01 mark (Butler kick was good) 14-20.  Schoolcraft's 20-yard touchdown reception in the left end zone gave the Battlers the 21-20 lead with 30 seconds left in the game. Michael James picked off a Malcolm Eady pass with 7 second on the clock and returned it 57-yards (Butler kick failed) 27-20.
 
Alderson Broaddus out gained FVSU in every category, but in time of possession as the Wildcats held the football 34 minutes to Battlers 25 minutes. The Battlers gained 446-yards of total offense to FVSU's 336-yards, while out rushing the Wildcats with 185–yards to 139-yards.
 
Junior running back Travis Richmond lead the Wildcats in rushing with 59-yards on 15 carries and Eady added 53-yards on 15 tries. Eady threw for 197-yards on 21-of-38 passes completions and two touchdowns and one interception. Freeman led the receiving core with 7 catches for 69-yards, two touchdowns and senior wide receiver Jevon Bell chipped in 5 catches for 75-yards.
 
Defensively, freshman middle linebacker Leon McQuarker led the Wildcats with 12 tackles (8 solos) and freshman free safety Kentroun James added 9 tackles, one tackle-for-loss (5-yards), and forced one fumble and recovered another fumble. Senior linebacker Stefon Harper had 8 tackles and one tackle-for-loss.
 
The Wildcats will travel to Frankfort, KY on Saturday, October 10th to play Kentucky State University at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
