WILDCATS MOVE TO 2-0 IN SIAC PLAY WITH WIN OVER CLARK ATLANTA

ATLANTA, GA (September 19, 2015) – Fort Valley State University Wildcats went into the Panthers den looking for their second straight SIAC (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) win. After coming off their big defeat of Lane a week ago (50-38), the Wildcats were riding high and with great defensive play and a few mixed in offensive plays the team walked away with a 35-13 victory over Clark Atlanta.
 
FVSU improves its overall record to 2-1 and 2-0 in the SIAC, while Clark Atlanta collected their third loss of the season (0-3; 0-3)  
 
In the first half nether team played well, as FVSU gained only one yard rushing and CAU had just 28 total yards on the ground. CAU threw for 152-yards, while FVSU added 129-yards.
 
FVSU's sophomore running back Jalen White carried the rock three times for 17-yards and sophomore quarterback Otis Brown completed 8-of-12 passes for 129-yards during the half.
 
FVSU went to halftime up 14-7.
 
The Wildcats scored with 14:10 left in the first quarter on sophomore running back Germaine Tait's 3-yard touchdown run completing a 2 play, 44-yard drive. Juan Serna kick was good (7-0).
 
Junior cornerback Tracey White scored the second touchdown off a 47-yard interception return with 4:06 remaining in the second quarter. Serna's kick was good (14-0).
 
CAU points can with :57 seconds left before halftime, as Darryl Minor grabbed a 23-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Vincent to finish a 9 play, 77-yard drive. Patrice Louissant kick was good (14-7).
 
In the third quarter, the Panthers got on the scoreboard first on a Vincent 10-yard touchdown pass to Travius Blair at the 7:43 mark. Louissant kick failed (14-13).
 
With 5:22 left in the third quarter, junior running back Travis Richmond increased the Wildcats lead with a 5-yard touchdown run, completing a 4 play, 36-yard drive. Serna kick was good (21-13).
 
Rounding the fourth quarter out, sophomore running back Jalen White added to the mix with a 18-yard touchdown run with 11:25 remaining to make the score 28-13, then Richmond would  complete the scoring off a Brown 9-yard touchdown pass. Serna kicks were good (35-13).
 
For the game, the Panthers had 16 first downs to FVSU's 13, while the Wildcats gained 128-yards rushing to CAU's 43. The Panthers out gained the Wildcats 252-yards to 168 through the air. FVSU edged out CAU in total offensive yardage with 296-yards to 295. Fumbles and penalties one again played apart, as the Wildcats had three fumbles and lost two of those and collected 106-yards in penalties.
 
White had 38-yards for the Wildcats on 7 carries and scored one touchdown and Brown followed with 29-yards in rushing. Brown completed 11-of-15 passes for 168-yards and threw one touchdown. Senior wide receiver's Alexander Morgan grabbed three passes for 44-yards and Jevon Bell had 36-yards on two catches.
 
Defensively, junior cornerback Tracey White had 7 tackles (6 solo), one interception and one pass breakup. Senior linebacker Rayan Bowman came in second with 6 tackles, one sack and 1.5 (12) tackle-of-losses.
 
The Wildcats will return home on Saturday, September 26 to host the Tigers of Benedict College. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 pm.
 
CAU will travel down the road to play The University of West Georgia at 2 pm.
