SAVANNAH, GA (November 21, 2016) – Sophomore forward
Jaylon McMillan (Lithonia, GA) help lead four other Fort Valley State University Wildcats (1-3) in double figures with a team-high 23-points in the 101-188 loss to Savannah State University (2-3) last night at Tiger Arena.
FVSU scored on 35-of-88 (39.8 percent) shots, making 14-of-39 three pointers and hitting 17-of-24 (70.8 percent) foul shots. The team had 30 points in the paint, 19 off turnovers, 20 on second chance shots, six from fast breaks and 43 points from the bench.
SSU shot 54.1 percent (40-74) from the floor, 51.1 percent (23-45) in three's and 65.2 percent (15-23) from the foul line. They made 26 points in the paint, nine off turnovers, 13 off second chance shots, four on fast breaks and 75 points from bench players.
MCMillan was 8-of-14 from the field, made five trays, and went 2-for-3 at the line and one rebound, while senior forward
Denard Williams (Warner Robins, GA) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and 10 points on a 5-for-8 night from the floor. Senior point guard
Jalen Crawford (Detroit, MI) threw-up 19 points, made three 3-pointers and 2-for-2 at the foul line, sophomore point guard
Tyler Edwards had 14 points, six rebounds, 9-for-10 in foul shots, while dishing out a team-high five assist. Junior point guard
J. R. Bryant added 13 points.
Savannah State had seven players in double figures with Caey Wells guiding the Tigers with 27-Points
and Austin Dasent team-high 10 rebounds.
The Wildcats next game is Wednesday, November 30 with Columbus State University at the HPE Complex in a 7:00 p.m. contest
