FRT VALLEY, GA (December 1, 2016) – Junior guard
Jamaal Garror (Conyers, GA) led two other Wildcats in scoring a game-high 16-points in Fort Valley State University (2-3) 71-67 win over visiting Edward Waters College (4-4) Thursday night at the HPE Complex.
At half time FVSU was down 26-34, with senior point guard
Jalen Crawford (Detroit, MI) making seven points and the Wildcats shooting 34.4 percent from the field and EWC hitting 37.5 percent.
The Tigers had a 17 point lead in the first quarter and led by as much as nine in the second quarter. Crawford's two free throws tied the game at 59, and then put the Wildcats up 60-59 for the first time with 4:45 remaining. Sophomore point guard
Tyler Edwards (Douglasville, GA) layup with 1:16 left made the score 67-61 and FVSU's biggest margin.
Garror made 6-of-8 shots from the floor, two trays, and 2-of-2 at the foul line, two assist and blocked two shots. Crawford added 15 points and four rebounds, while Edward had 13 points and seven boards. Senior center
Kris Bell (College Park, GA) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and scored six points.
Keith Williams, Jr. led EWC with 15 points and Oceaan Maddox and Jonathan Hart had eight boards each.
FVSU will host the Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen College on Saturday, December 3
