FORT VALLEY, GA (December 3, 2016) – Fort Valley State University (3-3; 1-0) men's basketball team won 91-84 over the Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen College (1-8; 1-1) Saturday afternoon on the back of four Wildcats that scored in double figures at the HPE Complex.
Junior guard
Jamaal Garror (Conyers, GA) led the Wildcats in scoring with 15 points, while making 7-of-9 free throws and pulling down six rebounds. Senior forward
Denard Williams (Warner Robins, GA) had a team-high nine rebounds, 14 points and went 6-for-6 at the line. Senior point guard
Jalen Crawford (Detroit, MI) added 14 points and sophomore point guard
Tyler Edwards (Douglasville, GA) blocked six shots and scored 13 points. Crawford and junior point guard J.R. Bryant (Macon, GA) dished out four assist each.
The Wildcats made 27-of-63 shots from the floor, 10-of-27 trays and 27-of-36 free throws, while grabbing 42 team rebounds, 31 points in the paint, 18 off turnovers, 13 on second chance shots, 17 fast break points and 28 points from bench player. The game was tied one time and lead changed twice during the game.
LOC was led by Rashawn Brown's 28 points and 10 rebounds and Daron Maston adding 24 points.
The Magicians got 38 points in the paint, 20 off turnovers, six on second chance shots, 26 fast break points and just three points from bench players. They scored on 28-of-67 baskets, 4-of-18 from behind the arc and 24-of-29 foul shots, while having 40 team rebounds.
