FORT VALLEY, GA (January 7, 2017) - Sophomore point guard
Tyler Edwards (Douglasville, GA) led four players in double figures with a team-high 15-points, as the Fort Valley State Wildcats (6-8; 4-1) basketball team won 78-68 over Lane College (7-8; 4-2) Saturday afternoon at the HPE Complex.
The Wildcats went to halftime up 34-19 with Edwards scoring eight points and Jalen Lewis seven points for LC.
Edwards went 3-of-10 from the field, 1-of-4 from 3-point land, 8-of-14 from the foul line, five rebounds, three assist, two blocks and three steals. Junior guard
Jamaal Garror (Conyers, GA) had 10 rebounds, 13-points and hit 6-of-6 foul shots. Senior forward
Dareial Franklin (Gadsden, AL) added 11-points, five rebounds and
Jalen Crawford had 10-points. For the game FVSU made 27-of-41 free throws, while out rebounding LC 52-44.
LC was led by Terrance Bridgeman with 18-points and Kendarius Ash grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds and 10-points.
The Wildcats hit 23-of-63 (36.5%) shots from the field, 5-of-21 (23.8%) from behind the arc. LC scored on 24-of-69 (34.8%) shots, 4-of-22 (18.2) in three's and 16-of-25 (64.0%) at the free throw line.
