Box Score 2 MOUNT VERNON, GA – The Fort Valley State University softball team started the 2017 season on the road with two losses to Brewton-Parker College, 6-2 and 15-0 on Saturday at Parker Field.
Game One:
Freshman pitcher
Tenia Johnson (0-1) picked up the loss, while giving up five hits, four earned runs and walking five.
Freshman shortstop
Brianna Jackson plated the Lady Wildcats' first run of the season in the fourth inn. Jackson reached base on a single back up the middle. Freshman catcher,
Shakerra Geter first hit of her college career was a homerun over the left center field fence to lead off the seventh. The Lady Wildcats comeback was a little too late.
Game Two:
Freshman pitcher
Tenia Johnson (0-2) received her second loss, while getting help from freshman
Brianna Jackson and freshman
Shakerra Geter.
FVSU could not get the bats going in this game. Freshman center fielder Ashley Blair and freshman left fielder
Aliyah Speight's reached base on singles in the third inning and freshman third baseman
Keteria Loney picked up a leadoff single in the fourth. Brewton-Parker scored in the first, second, third and fourth innings.
The Lady Wildcats will open at home on Saturday, February 25 with a double header against Truett-McConnell College at Wildcat Field. Games are slated to start at 1pm and 3 pm.
