FORT VALLEY, GA – The Fort Valley State Lady Wildcats softball team swept Paine College in a three game conference series with the third game being 15-4 on Monday, March 13 at Wildcat Field.
FVSU improved their overall record to 3-9 and 3-3 in the SIAC. PC dropped to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Freshman pitcher
Tenia Johnson (3-6) won her third straight while working 5.0 innings, allowing four runs (one earned run), four hits, walking four batters and striking out three.
Janae Dotson (0-2) picked up the loss in 4.0 innings of action. Dotson gave up 15 runs (11 earned runs), 12 hits, one strikeout and six walks.
Tenia Johnson worked her magic on the mound as well as at the plate by driving in three RBI's, scored twice and had one hit. Freshman center fielder
Ashley Simmons-Blair had two RBI's, two hits and scored two times. Freshman right fielder
Tavyonne Dallis scored three times and had two RBI's. Freshman second baseman
Aliyah Speight led the team with three hits, one RBI and scored two times. Freshmen left fielder

Shakerra Geter scored once after walking.
Dominique Davis led the Lady Lions with two RBI's and Daviana Harvey had two hits.
PC led off with two runs in the top half of the first inning, while the Lady Wildcats went one run up in the bottom half with three runs of their own.
FVSU plated three more runs in the second and another four runs in the third inning, while the Lady Lions added one run.
The Lady Lions led off the fourth with a run, then FVSU scored five runs in the bottom half.
FVSU will travel to Jasper, AL to play in the SIAC Softball Crossover Tournament and play from Thursday, March 16 through Saturday, March 18 at Jasper Memorial Softball Complex. The Lady Wildcats will play Spring Hill College at 11 a.m. and Lane College at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
