Tuskegee Takes Battle over FVSU

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – With the opening tip possession and Shawn Foxbrennen mid-range jumper, the Wildcats enjoyed its lead of the day for the opening half-minute of play. Tuskegee scored eight points in a row and never trailed the rest of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball contest for the 68-52 win over Fort Valley State.

The Wildcats (2-11/1-2 SIAC) pulled to with two, 14-12, 9:15 into the game on Brenton Cliette Jordan's layup and K'Viontae Williams dropped in a jumper six minutes later for a 21-18 margin. The Golden Tigers (4-5/2-0 SIAC) pushed the score back to an eight-point difference by half and answered the immediate second 20-minute visitors charge. A Jaylon McMillan deep triple kept FVSU in the mix, 44-38, with 12: 44 to go, but his squad made it no closer back to the lead.

Williams sliced through the home defense for a game-best 23 points for the Wildcats on 10 of 19 from the floor. He also added five rebounds, four assists and three steals.

McMillan chipped in 13 points on his toughest night from the field in recent weeks. Cliette Jordan pulled in 11 rebounds.

FVSU hit only 21 of 65 tries at a 32.3-percent clip. The visitors did only commit 10 turnovers, but they saw Tuskegee down 10 of 20 from long-range and own a 53-37 rebound advantage.

Kaleb Morton netted 13 points and Miles Thomas 12 for the top Golden Tigers nights.

FVSU has back-to-back road games to finish its pre-Christmas docket starting on Monday night, Dec. 17, at Miles College and against Alabama-Huntsville Tuesday evening to open the Rocket City Classic. The Monday game is scheduled to tip at 9 p.m. EST.
