Box Score The Lady Wildcat Softball team faced Benedict College yesterday for a chance to go to the SIAC playoffs. The team started the game excited and ready to battle. They took the lead in the first inning when Sophomore
Keteria Loney tripled and brought in what what would be the only runs of the day for the Wildcats. Benedict came back and scored one run after an error and a double by Starkeira Daniel in the second. They would then score four more runs in the 6th with three hits and two errors. That was all the scoring done on the day and unfortunately the end of the season for the Wildcats as games missed because of weather will not be made up.
This was a lost opportunity for the Lady Wildcats. Pitcher
Courtney Walker gave up only four hits all afternoon. Her stats will show she gave up no earned runs and kept her team in contention all afternoon.. If not for some untimely errors the outcome could and most probably would have been different. The team finished the year 16-17 and 6-13 in the SIAC conference. This was a marked improvement over last seasons 4-47 and 3-16 respectively. The Lady Wildcats were competitive all season and gave the top teams in the conference something to think about when they arrived on the diamond.
No student athlete likes to end the year saying wait until next year, but this young team which is bringing back all of its players will have something to say and prove next season.
