Lady Wildcats fall to Lady Panthers

Box Score Orangeburg, SC- The Lady Wildcats traveled to Orangeburg, SC on Friday for a conference game against Claflin University at Adden Street Park. Due to inclement weather, the game which was originally scheduled for Saturday was moved to Friday evening. The Lady Wildcats were defeated 8-1.
 
With the loss, the Lady Wildcats dropped to 15-10 overall and 5-6 in conference play.
Marlayzha Crutchfield, sophomore from Monroe, GA, scored the only run for the Lady Wildcats off of a single by Audrianna Noel. The Lady Wildcats led 1-0 after the first two innings. To start the third inning, Tiaria Norman came in for the Lady Panthers to replace LaKaylin Lee at pitcher. The Lady Wildcats could not get their bats going and received three outs instantly.
At the bottom of the third inning, Lady Panther Kayla Cato hit a homerun to tie the score (1-1). The Lady Panthers scored 4 more runs to end the inning, including a homerun hit by Jada Ames. The Lady Panthers led 5-1. The Lady Wildcats remained scoreless while Claflin would go on to score 3 more runs to win the game in the top of the seventh, 8-1.  
Courtney Walker was the losing pitcher for the game while Tiaria Norman for Claflin picked up the win.
 
Head Coach Jason Bryant was disappointed with the loss but stated that there were more positives than the score reflected.
 
The Lady Wildcats will return to action for a double-header in Orangeburg, SC on Sunday (April 8) at Adden Street Park. Game times are slotted for 1 and 3 pm.
