Wildcats Volleyball Record Tough Saturday

MACON, Ga. -- Following two hard-fought Friday matches, the Wildcats struggled to bounce back on Saturday. Fort Valley State volleyball came up short against both Middle Georgia State and Fisk University on the court.

FVSU (1-3) opened with a straight-sets loss to Middle Georgia State, 3-0 (19-25, 11-25, 22-25), where its attack errors outnumbered its kills. The Wildcats played better against Fisk where they took the third set, 25-22, but mounted no more in the 3-1 loss with opening sets of 18-25 and 20-25, before the 13-25 fourth set.

In the opener, Nia Bell led FVSU with six kills and six digs. She added a double-double of 14 kills and 12 digs with three total blocks against Fisk.

India King downed 15 kills and hit .542 versus Fisk. Ashley Simmons-Blair dug 18 attacks and Rita Davis had 25 assists.

FVSU returns to action on Tuesday night, Sept. 11, in a 6 p.m. home match to open Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play against Albany State.
