FORT VALLEY, Ga. – For the second time this week, the Wildcats came away with the 'W.' K'Viontae Williams' 3-point play highlighted a Fort Valley State 11-0 run for a lead it never gave up in the final six minutes for the hard-fought, 61-57, win over rival Albany State Saturday night in the HPE Arena.

Trailing 41-38, Williams found Shawn Foxbrennen for a baseline jumper and less than a minute later completed the conventional 3-point play to give the Wildcats (4-15/3-5 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) a 42-41 edge. FVSU added six more points to the run and held Albany State (6-12/5-3 SIAC) to no closer than three points, 58-55, with 19 seconds left, but free throws by Thomas Hardy and Jaylon McMillan iced the victory.

While being presented with a ball to commemorate reaching 1,000 career points on Monday, McMillan added a game-best 21 points to his total, including five 3-pointers. He also had seven rebounds.

Williams added 13 points on 4 of 7 from the floor and six assists. Foxbrennen chipped in 11 points and five rebounds. Hardy had eight points and four boards.

FVSU held Albany State to only 34% from the field (18 of 53) on the night. Jared Harrington led the visiting Rams with 16 points.

The two teams played to a 30-30 tie as they headed into intermission.

The rivals traded one-possession leads, before the Rams led 41-38 heading into the Wildcats game-deciding run. FVSU's second-half lead grew to eight points, 49-41 at 6:11 left

FVSU will have a week off before traveling to Atlanta next Saturday, January 19, in a 3 p.m. contest at Morehouse College.
