Wildcats Face Tigers in Battle for SIAC East Top Spot

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – It's crunch time for the Wildcats to accomplish their conference and national goals. Fort Valley State heads back on the road for its stiffest NCAA Division II foe at Savannah State in a battle of the two Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division unblemished squads Saturday evening.
 
The Wildcats (6-2/4-0 SIAC East) has SIAC East crown hopes dancing in their heads and put those hopes on the line against the Tigers (5-3/4-0 SIAC East). In a game broadcast by ESPN Plus, the kick-off is set for 5 p.m.

Wildcats Defense
  • Allowed 30.6 points per game & 361.5 yards of total offense
  • Gave up only 25.0 points in last 6 weeks of wins – compared to 47.5 points in first 2 weeks
  • Held 2nd opponent in a row to under 250 yards of total offense – Morehouse (10/19) at 128 yards and Clark Atlanta (10/26) at 249 yards

  • Harris leads all of NCAA DII in forced fumbles (0.75/gm) and sacks (1.69/gm and 13.5 sacks); 2nd in tackles for loss (2.3/gm & 18.0 for the year)
  • DE Jahseari Patterson also among tops in nation in forced fumbles (4th at 0.50/gm); 26th in TFLs (1.6/gm or 13.0 on year); 31st in sacks (0.81/gm or 6.5 for year)
  • DB Michael Hicks, Jr. picked off his 2nd pass of the year last week to tie for the team lead
  • LB Majeste Hansberry recorded his 5th double-figure tackle game with 10 last week; leads team with 75 TT to go with 4.5 TFL
 
Tigers Offense
  • Average 26.6 points per game & 298.4 yards of total offense per contest
  • Rushing offense ranks 14th in NCAA DII at 243.6 yards per game
  • Scored season high 35 points last week vs. Albany State
  • RB D'Angelo Durham ran for 150 yards on 20 rushes and 3 TDs vs Albany State; ran 145 times for 726 yards and 8 TDs on season
  • QB D'Vonn Gibbons is the 2nd leading rusher (102 for 456 yds) and top passer with 367 yards off 23 of 59 attempts with 5 TDs to 3 INTs
  • WR Cameron White is the lone receiver with 100 yards on the year with 9 catches for 100 yards
