Eagles Prevail Over Wildcats Saturday Night

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The high-scoring Eagles played scrooge early for the Wildcats Saturday night. Embry-Riddle used a run halfway through the first half and prevailed over Fort Valley State men's basketball, 121-85.

The Wildcats (3-10) had early success over the opening 5:23. After four one-possession leads, a Shawn Foxbrennen 3-pointer off a Kenneth Franklin helper made it 10-5 FVSU at 14:37 in the first half. Embry-Riddle (11-1) answered the long FVSU shot by hitting eight of its next nine attempts from the floor in a 20-0 run for a 25-10 lead over a 4:06 period of time.

Foxbrennen downed three triples and 7-of-13 from the floor for 18 points to go with nine rebounds and three steals. Off the bench, Malik Clark produced 18 points of his own with four treys over nine minutes of court time.

K'Viontae Williams added 13 points, five rebounds and six steals, while Gregory Holloway had 12 points.

The host Eagles came into the night averaging 102.5 points and 14.7 field goals from 3-point land. Embry-Riddle drained 20 of its 43 attempts beyond the arc, 10 in each half. Elijah Jenkins downed seven 3-pointers on 11 tries for a game-high 25 points.

FVSU has the holidays off before it travels up the long road to the northwest on Saturday, Jan. 4, at Kentucky State in a 3 p.m. contest.
