FVSU Storms Back in Final 4 Minutes, Takes Central State in Overtime

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats saw its freshman point guard at the place at the right time in the final seconds of regulation. Fort Valley State's Tristan Davis put back right before the buzzer sent the game to overtime where the home team netted the final five points to complete the comeback, 87-82, over Central State.

Trailing by 11 points with five minutes and eight points with exactly 4:00 on the clock, the Wildcats (3-6/1-1 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East) made its comeback. Down 77-75 with 12 seconds, Davis scooped up the ball, which bounced between a group of players under the bucket follow a Shawn Foxbrennen inside miss and floated an eight-foot running jumper in the lane to tie the game moments before the buzzer to end regulation tied at 77.

Following a driving Gregory Holloway layup to tie the game for the second overtime occasion at 82 with 2:09 left, the FVSU sophomore made one of two free throws 41 seconds later. After two missed Central State (4-3/1-1 SIAC West) free throws with 44 seconds, K'Viontae Williams made a pair at the charity stripe (28 seconds) and Davis finished the overtime as he did regulation, but with his own two free throws for the 87-82 final.
