Ga. Southwestern Holds FVSU Softball in Check Saturday

AMERICUS, Ga. – The Wildcats had a tough day on the diamond as they moved up in competition. Georgia Southwestern held Fort Valley State softball in check Saturday afternoon with 9-0 and 6-0 final scores.
 
The Storm (7-5) pitching staff gave up only four Wildcats (3-7) hits, all singles, in 12 innings played. Ga. Southwestern took advantage of four FVSU game errors to a tune of seven unearned runs of its nine, while the visitors did not get a hit until the fifth inning. The Storm scored all six of its runs in the middle innings of game two and held all Wildcats runners no further than second base.
 
Keterina Loney lined two of FVSU's four hits with one in each game. Shakerra Geter and Aliyah Speight sliced one single in game two.
 
FVSU continues on the road with a Tuesday, Feb. 26, doubleheader at Brewton-Parker. Game one starts at 1 p.m.
