Wildcats Blank Lions Twice, Sweep Twinbill

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats made short work of their Saturday afternoon pair. Fort Valley State posted four three-plus run at bats and its pitchers allowed only five hits to blank Paine College, 10-0 and 8-0, both in five frames.

Kayla Brown continued her strong pitching as she faced the 15 Paine College (0-16/0-10 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) batter minimum and allowed only a
lead-off third-inning single. The Wildcats (9-14/6-5 SIAC) brought around four in the third and five in the fifth as Aliyah Speight drove in the first and final runs of game one.

Sara Lann picked up where Brown left off in the game two
circle. Lann gave up two hits in four innings for her first collegiate victory. Shakerra Geter lined a three-run single past the third-base bag and Katrina Loney drove in a trio of runs on two singles to highlight the home hitters.

Ashley Simmons-Blair went a team-
best, 3-for-4 with four runs and two RBI for FVSU. Speight and Loney were the other two multi-hit Wildcats with two singles apiece. Geter's triple was the lone extra-base hit.

Brown, Lann and Re'Nesha Goolsby combined for no runs, five hits, one walk and nine strikeouts in the circle over 10 innings of work.

FVSU completes the three-day event on Sunday afternoon, March 31, in a no one single game against Paine.
