Corgelas Leads Five Wildcats Placers on SIAC Track & Field Championship First Day

ROCK HILL, S.C. – On the first day of the 2019 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track and Field Championship, Amos Corgelas led five Fort Valley State Wildcats placers in five different events on Thursday.

After being named All-SIAC Second Team in the discus, Corgelas showed his might in the men's event with a throw of 44.54

meters for second place, one spot ahead of teammate Vincent Buckley in third (42.08m). Buckley also heaved the shot put 12.62 meters in his second event for sixth place. 
 
Brown led the FVSU women's effort as she grabbed a spot on the podium twice. Brown threw to third place in the women's discus with an effort covering 38.39 meters. The redshirt sophomore also was the team's top finisher in the shot put in fifth of 11.19 meters.

Joining Brown, Camille Saunders was right behind her with a distance of 11.09 meters for sixth in the shot put.

McDonald leaped to sixth place in the long jump of 5.16 meters.
 
The Wildcats track & field
teams return to the Winthrop University stadium at noon for the women's hammer throw and the men's triple jump at 1 p.m. in a full day of competition.
