COLUMBIA, S.C.- Fort Valley State University men's and women's track & field complete the first day of the Southern Intercollegaite Athletic Conference (SIAC).
Diamond Richardson was crowned a conference champion in the women's hammer throw,
Aquila Kerr was named a conference runner up in women's long jump and
Joshua Pearson earned third place in the men's hammer throw.
Richardson added another accolade to her already impressive season. She launched a 51.66m throw in the women's hammer to beat the second place hurler from Albany State University by almost a meter.
Kerr nabbed a second play finish after a phenomenal jump marked at 5.36 meters. She tailed the first place finisher by less than a meter.
Pearson finished in third for the men's hammer throw. He recorded a 41.56m launch roughly two meters shy of the second place finisher.
The Wildcats will return to action on Thursday, April 24 with men's decathlon events kicking things off.
