ATLANTA, Ga.- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced their women's track All-Conference honors with three Fort Valley State University athletes earning honors.
Diamond Richardson earned an impressive three, First Team All-SIAC nods in shot put, discus, and hammer throw.
Aquila Kerr was named to the Second Team for long jump.
Ariyah Graham was named to the Second Team in javelin.
Richardson was on fire from the start of the season. She opened at the JD Evilsizer Invitational with a 34.71m throw in discus and a 12.21m mark in shot put, placing third and first, respectively. At the River City Relays, she swept all three of her events, recording a season-best shot put distance at 13.17m. she rounded out the event with a 41.41m in discus and 43.98m in hammer throw. She followed that up at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Classic with a second-place finish in shot put at 12.89m and another second-place finish in discus at 44.66m, while matching her hammer mark at 43.98m. Richardson continued her strong form at the Emory Spring Break Classic, hitting two more season bests with a first-place 45.90m throw in discus and a 49.90m hammer throw, along with a second-place shot put finish at 13.07m. At the Davidson Relays, she placed second in shot put with a 13.11m throw and added a 45.21m mark in hammer. The University of West Georgia Legends Invitational was another standout meet, as she notched top-three finishes across the board with 45.80m in hammer, 44.06 meters in discus, and 13.07m in shot put. Richardson capped off the pre-conference season at the Alice Coachman Invitational with two more first-place finishes, 36.28m in discus and 47.37m in hammer, and a third-place finish in shot put at 11.56m.
Kerr had an impressive season in the long jump. She opened with a first-place finish at the JD Evilsizer Invitational, recording a 5.56m mark. Kerr followed that performance with a season-best 5.68m jump at the River City Relays, earning second place.
Graham was stellar in the javelin throughout the season. She earned a second-place finish at the River City Relays with a 32.16m throw, then followed with a 29.07m mark at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Classic.
The SIAC Track & Field Championships will start on Wednesday, April 23.
