FVSU (3-13/1-6 SIAC East) and Savannah State (1-8/1-5 SIAC East) will be a matchup of teams searching for the win column. Both teams head into Saturday on tough losing runs with the Wildcats at seven games and Tigers at six games.

The two SIAC teams have not met since Nov. 21, 2016 in a "track meet," which resulted in a combined 219 total points. On its home court, Savannah State outraced FVSU, 118-101, where both teams scored 50-plus points in each of the two halves and 13 combined players scored in double figures.

Both teams also come off similar contests in their last games. On Tuesday night, FVSU fell short against Miles College, 71-67. Down by 14 with 1:45 remaining, the Wildcats cut the margin in half in the next minute and down to three, 68-65, with 28 seconds. The FVSU potential game-tying 3-pointer fell off the rim with three seconds left to end its comeback attempt. In its lone January contest last Saturday afternoon, Savannah State fell 78-71 at Lane College. The Tigers came back from down to 16 points in the second half to tie the game at 60 with four minutes left. Lane, though regained the lead for the win.
