Solid Pitching and Timely Game Two Hitting Gives Wildcats Sweep of Tigers

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The young Wildcats pitchers shinned on the nice Sunday afternoon field. Fort Valley State used solid pitching and timely game-two hitting to sweep Sewanee University, 3-0 and 6-3, on the softball diamond.

Freshman Caprice Johnson and sophomore Re'Nesha Goolsby combined for a four-hit shutout in the opener. A Ryleigh Murray line a two-run double down the right-field line and a Kayla Phillips sac fly provided the home runs. Six batters into the game, Goolsby was able to get FVSU (3-1) out of an early game two bind, before the offense exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead over Sewanee (0-4)
