FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Every sports team has their share of 'unsung heroes,' the ones who quietly and consistently contribute, but goes virtually unnoticed. For the past two years, Brenton Cliette Jordan was the Fort Valley State men's basketball team's 'Mr. Consistency' on the court.

Cliette Jordan always greeted you with a wide smile and friendly quiet demeanor, the same demeanor he turned into a hard-working, high-percentage model of consistent Wildcat production.

The Wildcats may not have posted as many victories or went as deep in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament as they would have liked in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns, but Macon, Ga.'s Cliette Jordan gave his all-out effort, which resulted in 6.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per night.

In his 57 games in a Wildcat uniform, Cliette Jordan was the most reliable man on the roster at putting 'rock' in the bucket. The undersized-inside player connected on 148 of his 278 field goal attempts for an impressive .532 field goal percentage. He also added a 3-point option to his arsenal this season where he downed nine tries in 22 attempts (.409). Brenton (BJ) toed the charity stripe at a .690 clip (60 of 87) as well. This season, the 6-5 forward would have ranked third in the SIAC for field goal percentage of .569 (82 for 144) if he attempted more shots. Along with draining nine triples, BJ increased his scoring to 6.9 points (200 points) and grabbed 142 rebounds (4.9 per night), which were third-best on the Wildcats team for both categories. We asked BJ to share some answers to some questions regarding his time as a Wildcat and what his future holds:

What did you try to bring to the team each game/practice?

What I would try to bring to every practice or game was effort.

What was your key to be consistent in your play each game?

I really think it's important to have a game day ritual. Especially, if it was a home game, I would get a good workout in in the morning time, then my go to meal would be Subway, get a nap in and get my mind ready for the game.

Areas feel you grew in your time playing for Fort Valley?

I feel like I grew in my consistency and hard work playing for the Wildcats.

Biggest enjoyment of playing for the Wildcats? Were you happy to play close to home?

The biggest enjoyment I had was playing in front of the home crowd. Yes, I was very happy to play so close to home and I'm pretty sure my mom was too.

Thoughts on how your Fort Valley career went looking back now in hindsight?
I enjoyed my Fort Valley career. I feel like my career has helped me pertaining to how I would go about in life.

Biggest moment/moments had during your college career?
One of my favorite moments is when we played Central state for the first time my senior year -- the whole starting five scored double digits and we won in overtime. My other favorite moment was when we played Columbus State my junior year and I had 14 points and 16 rebounds.

What do you feel you accomplished?
I feel like I have accomplished just becoming a better human being. Even though basketball is a sport you can learn so much just playing the game.

Favorite place you played? Favorite experience you had on a trip?
My favorite place I played was no doubt Duke. I just enjoyed the experience. We had to play against a team like the Blue Devils.

My favorite trip was to Daytona, Florida where we played Embry Riddle. We went out to the Daytona beach and had a good time.

Name an experience you were able to have, which you would not have without playing college sports?
I was able to experience different coaching styles and I picked specific things from each coach to improve my game.

How have you grown from your college time and career?
I have grown over the years by learning how to take care of responsibilities and learn how to become a better young man.

What are your personal career goals? Jobs, internships, interests moving forward?
My career goals are to graduate in fall and go into coaching. I want to start of coaching for my middle school, which is Weaver Middle School and then go on to coach for my high school, Westside High School - both located in my hometown Macon, Georgia and they are right across the street from each other. When I accomplish those two things, I want to work my way up all the way to the NBA.

-----------

With his smile on his face and a determined spirit, Cliette Jordan will surprise no one who knows him when he does suit up for an NBA coaching staff in the not-too-distant future!
