Wildcats Football Welcomes Warner Robins Lineman Thompson

6/1/2020 2:47:00 PM

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – A potential upfront anchor joins what is quickly becoming an extremely talent-laden Wildcats offensive unit. Fort Valley State welcomes highly-touted Warner Robins High offensive lineman Manny Thompson to The Valley.

In a late-spring signing, NCAA Division I talent Thompson will be another key cog in new Wildcats head coach Maurice Flowers' balanced attack for the 2020 season.

"We feel (due to fortunate circumstances) we were able to get a Division I football player in Manny," noted Flowers. "He has elite athleticism as we expect Manny to compete to be a Wildcat starter immediately."

The 6-6, 270-pound lineman wrapped a stellar Demons career last fall. Thompson was described as the 'bell cow' of the Warner Robins offensive line, which provided the room for the team to reach the Georgia 5A State Championship game for the third year in a row with its balanced attack. Manny was a key part of three region titles, three state runner ups and a record of 50 wins in 55 outings (.909 winning percentage).

"Manny originally was looking at Georgia State, but we are thrilled he will be wearing a Fort Valley State uniform for his career," added Flowers. "(As he noted last Thursday in the last signing announcement) We were recruiting specific needs and think we met them. In our original signing class, we only had two offensive linemen and added big time quality with two more linemen, two local area guys, in Thompson of Warner Robins and Jayshaun Booker of Macon."

Thompson and the Wildcats are tentatively scheduled to start its 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Miles College.
