Wildcats Coast Past Yellow Jackets

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – After a 12-day layoff, the Wildcats showed no rust on the court Wednesday night. Fort Valley State made quick work and coasted to straight-sets sweep of Allen University, 3-0, in women's volleyball action.
 
FVSU (6-13) ran out to an early 10-3 lead in set one, increased it to 20-10 and finished a quick 25-11 opener. Allen (3-12) fought back in set two, led by two, 10-8, but the home team scored the final 11 points for the 25-16 win. The Wildcats turned a 17-9 advantage into a 23-10 margin and 25-12 finish to end the match.
 
Destinee Jackson pounded 11 kills and dug five attacks to lead FVSU. Morgan Hebert handed out 26 assists to go with six kills, four digs and two aces. Bianca Haslett added six kills, five digs and three aces to her credit.
 
FVSU returns to the court Thursday night, Oct. 28, in a 6 p.m. meeting with Trinity Baptist.
