Wildcats Comeback Falls Just Short, Fall in 4 to Tigers

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – A match the young Wildcats captured the momentum and saw it slip away shortly later. After Fort Valley State battled back to take the third set, Savannah State erased a five-point deficit in set four and secured the 3-1 women's volleyball Sunday win.

Trailing a pair of sets following scores of 21-25 and 20-25, FVSU (8-15/1-12 SIAC East) trailed 22-18 late, but scored seven of the final eight points and pulled out a 25-23 third set win. The home Wildcats held a 16-11 set four lead, but the Tigers rattled off seven in a row to edge ahead, 18-17, on the way to a 25-20 set win.

Bianca Haslett paced the Wildcats with nine kills, two errors and 17 total attacks for a .412 hit percentage to go with two aces, two digs and a block. Destinee Jackson added eight winners, three aces and seven digs. Laiani McCullough chipped in seven kills and six digs.

Morgan Hebert handed out 25 assists along with four kills, two aces and 13 digs for a double-double. Elizabeth Moore had nine digs and Naydiah Kornegay five.

FVSU goes on its final regular-season road trip for a Tuesday night, Nov. 8, match at Edward Waters starting at 6 p.m.
