Edwards Waters Set Runs Spell Tough Ending for FVSU Volleyball

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It has been a season of learning with the fledgling Wildcats volleyball team. Edward Waters showed its might with long point runs in each set and held off Fort Valley State Tuesday night in straight sets, 3-0.

The Tigers (23-7) used similar 8-1 spurts in both of the opening sets and opened identical 19-9 leads before they took the sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-15. The Wildcats (8-16) scored six of seven points to edge ahead 9-8 and then 11-10 in the third set, but the home team netted eight of the next 10 and 12 of the following 15 points to end the match at 25-16.

Bianca Haslett led the FVSU hitters with six kills to go with seven digs and an ace. Raven Edwards added five winners, six digs and a pair of assists. Morgan Hebert chipped in 17 assists, three kills, five digs, an ace and a block, while Elizabeth Moore dug 14 attacks and had two assists.

FVSU completes its regular season at home on Thursday night (Nov. 11) in a 6 p.m. contest against Clark Atlanta.
