Wildcats Battle Rattlers in Men’s Basketball Exhibition

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Wildcats tried to stay sharp Wednesday night in their second contest against NCAA DI competition. Fort Valley State battled Florida A&M in a men's basketball exhibition, but it came out on the short end, 76-63.

FVSU did not lead the entire night, but it tied FAMU, 3-3, in the opening minute after a K.J. Doucet triple. The Wildcats continued to stay close and trailed by only a point twice, 11-10 and 13-12, before Jamarcus Scott nailed a jumper for a 17-14 tally at 10:26. After a Greg Holloway FVSU layup, FAMU took a 20-16 contest into a 32-18 advantage with 12 of the next 14 points over a 6:05 period. The Rattlers did not allow the Wildcats closer than 13 points following the opening second-half bucket and two final free throws.

Doucet and Davon Cottle combined for six 3-pointers and 26 points with each having 13. Pendergrass chipped in a season-high 10 points with a pair of treys of his own, while Scott added nine points. James Pelham handed out four assists.

M.J. Randolph led the Rattlers with 21 points.

FVSU returns to the HPE Arena for its next contest this Saturday afternoon, Dec. 4, in a 3 p.m. matchup against North Georgia.
