Nighthawks Prevail over Wildcats Men’s Hoops

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats' scoring punch hit a tough spot midway through Saturday's second half. North Georgia went on a key seven-minute second-half run and prevailed over Fort Valley State, 64-51, in men's basketball.

After a FVSU (1-7) foul shot by Greg Holloway, North Georgia (7-1) scored 13 of the next 15 points over an almost seven-minute time frame and opened a 61-41 advantage at 4:57. The Wildcats were unable to mount a late comeback in the final five minutes.

Following his long 3-pointer at the buzzer, Jamal Reynolds finished with high points for FVSU at 16 points on 5 for 7 attempts to go with six rebounds and three steals. Jacobi Coleman netted all 10 of his points in the first half on 4 of 6 tries, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Frank Champion led the Nighthawks with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

After trailing by six point seven minutes into the afternoon, FVSU rallied and went ahead by four points, 19-15, following back-to-back buckets from Coleman and a 3-point play from James Pelham. North Georgia struck right back with the next 13 points and never trailed again.

FVSU stays at home where it will host Georgia Southwestern on Tuesday evening, Dec. 7, in a 7:30 p.m. tip.
