Wildcats Women’s Track & Field Garners Second at Running Eagles Open

MARIETTA, Ga. –
 The Wildcats have made continued progress this spring. The Fort Valley State women's track and field team garnered second in a nine-team field at Saturday's Running Eagles Open held at Life University.
 
Behind individual second places by Miniya Miller (shot put), Ashaunti Brown (discus) and Tania Hall (high jump) and also a runner-up by the 4x100-meter relay, the Wildcats registered 95 team points, 31 more than third-place Columbus State. Host Life University won the team title with 175 points.
 
Starting the FVSU rundown in the shot put, the Wildcats took second through six places led by Miller's 11.98 meter throw. She was followed by Na'dejah Betts (11.95m), Makayla Terry (11.83m), Dakota Walker (11.72m) and Brown (11.71m).
 
Brown posted the top FVSU mark in the discus of 133-4 meters for second, while Miller was third (125-8) and Walker sixth (104-6).
 
Along with being second in the high jump (1.42 meters), Hall teamed with Ariana Rucker, Shiann Addison and Latavia Powell for the second-place effort in the 4x100-meter relay in 50.37 seconds.
 
Jaylin Rivers not only was fourth in the long jump (4.30 meters), but she was also the lead leg in the third place 4x400-meter relay (4:50.11) with Tamia Clark, Addison and Montana Williams. The FVSU "B" relay team of Hall, Powell, Timia Coles and Kashie Darville was fourth in the same race in 5:04.19.
 
Both FVSU track & field teams return to action next Saturday at Savannah State.
