ALBANY, Ga. -- After a year away from the court, a new roster of Wildcats returned to the women's volleyball court Friday night. Albany State, though, proved too much for Fort Valley State, in a 3-0 win.

The Golden Rams came out to double the visiting Wildcats, 25-13, in the first set, before they went on for the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-14, in the match.

Raven Edwards and Laiani McCullough paced the FVSU attack with seven and six kills to go with two and five digs. Morgan Horbert handed out 18 assists and dug seven attacks. Elizabeth Moore added five digs.

Sydney Melton led all players with 19 kills for Albany State.

FVSU completes its opening weekend with a 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon match against Wesleyan College in the HPE Arena.
