Wildcats Move to Highest Position of No. 3 in HBCU DII Coaches Poll

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – On the strength of a 21-point third quarter to help keep them on the winning track, the Wildcats continued in the rankings right direction. The Fort Valley State football team moved to the highest position of No. 3 in the HBCU DII Coaches Poll sponsored by BOXTOROW Sports.

FVSU (6-1) increased its point total by 30 points in Week 7's poll to 159 points to rise up to No. 3 right behind current Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division leader Benedict College at No. 2.

The Wildcats have their final true road game this Saturday afternoon, Oct. 22, in a 4 p.m. kick-off at the Panthers of Clark Atlanta.

Virginia Union received all but three first place votes and remains No. 1 in The HBCU Division II Coaches Poll powered by BOXTOROW.

No. 2 Benedict received the remaining first place votes and moved up a spot after its road victory over No. 4 Albany State, who dropped two spots this week. Benedict remains undefeated on the season and controls its own destiny towards the SIAC Eastern Division title.

No. 5 Fayetteville State also moved up a spot and controls its own destiny in the CIAA's Southern Division. No. 9 Chowan, coming off a CIAA Northern Division win over Virginia State, enters the poll for the first time this year.
