After FVSU scored its first touchdown of the third quarter to lead 28-14, Mosley recovered a fumble caused by teammate Kentrell Lawson. Wilson Looks to Become 1st Wildcat 1,000-yd Rusher in 18 Years
If he had not missed the first three games last year, FVSU running back Emanuel Wilson would be looking for his second 1,000-yard season at The Valley. The redshirt junior instead looks for his first century mark rushing year in the Blue & Gold.
The SIAC's leading rusher and seventh in NCAA DII, Wilson heads into the weekend with 868 rushing yards (on 139 carries and a 6.2-yard average). He bettered his 835 yards on 147 carries from seven games a year ago.
Wilson needs 132 more rushing yards to become the first FVSU 1,000-yard rusher since Derrick Wimbush accomplished the feat in back-to-back years in 2004 and 2003 – he had 1,840 yards on 247 carries and 22 touchdowns in 2004 and 184 carries for 1,348 yards and 14 TDs in 2003. Duron Croson ran for 1,384 yards on 252 rushes and 18 TDs in 2002 and Orlando Wiley rushed for 1,401 yards on 268 carries and 16 TDs in 2001.
Wilson needs seven yards for the most yards since 2004 as Pierre Brown amassed 874 yards on 151 carries for the 2007 season.
The redshirt junior averages 124.0 yards per game (8th in DII) over the first seven weeks of the year and nine TDs.
As a true freshman in the fall of 2019, Wilson ran for 1,040 yards on 159 attempts and 13 TDs at Johnson C. Smith.
