Golden Rams Runs Help Hold off Wildcats

ALBANY, Ga. – On Thursday night, the Wildcats battled, but they could not pull off the road upset. Albany State used middle-of-the-set runs and used them to help hold off Fort Valley State women's volleyball, 3-0.

The Lady Rams (11-6/11-2 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East) posted five points in a row midway through the opening set for a 25-18 win. The home team finished set number two with four of the final points to take it, 25-19. The Wildcats (3-14/2-10 SIAC East) started set three strong for 4-1, 7-3 and 12-8 advantages, before the Lady Rams went on a set-changing 10-1 run for the eventual 25-17 tally to end the match.

Raven Edwards downed an FVSU-best seven kills to go with six digs. Morgan Hebert chipped in five kills, four digs and three assists. Laiani McCullough handed out 17 assists along with four digs and two kills. Sarah Rosario dug eight ASU attacks.

Jenae Thomas and Kennedi Wallace of ASU led all hitters with eight kills apiece.

FVSU has the weekend off before it hosts Shorter University on Monday evening, Oct. 10, in a 6 p.m. first serve.
