Doucet Receives SIAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Honor

ATLANTA, Ga. – Fresh of the team's third win in four games Monday night, the Wildcats received their first team honor on Tuesday. Fort Valley State's K.J. Doucet received the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor.

The SIAC Preseason Player of the Year guided FVSU to an upset win of SIAC West member Tuskegee, 70-68, last Saturday afternoon. He also helped the Wildcats nearly upset the Nighthawks of North Georgia on the road last week, 61-59.

In the two contests, Doucet averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. For the first time this season, the sophomore forward eclipsed the 20-point mark with 24 points on 6 of 10 shooting and 11 of 15 from the foul line to go with five rebounds, two assists and a steal to take away the victory at Tuskegee. He also contributed 10 points and three rebounds at North Georgia.

Over the team's first seven games, Doucet holds averages of 14.6 points, tops on the FVSU team, and 4.4 rebounds, while he has 12 assists, six steals and a blocked shot.

FVSU returns to the court Saturday afternoon, Dec. 3, in a 3 p.m. home game against LeMoyne-Owen College.
