Boone and Moore Garner HBCU College Football All-America Honors

12/12/2022 3:10:00 PM

Two Wildcats gridiron forces received some top acclaim on Monday. Fort Valley State center Emanuel Boone and defensive back Tyler Moore garnered HBCU College Football All-American Honorable Mention honors presented by BOXTOROW.

The FVSU senior players helped the program to its most successful season in a decade where it finished 8-2, second in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division and narrowly missed a NCAA Division II National Playoff invitation.

For the past four seasons, Boone of Macon, Ga., anchored the middle of the Wildcat offensive line. The center earned his third-straight All-SIAC First Team acclaim. He also was on the 2022 All-SIAC Preseason First Team and 2021 D2CCA All-Region 2 Second Team for his other awards.

In 2022, Boone cleared the way for All-America running back Emanuel Wilson, who was the SIAC Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. Boone made all the calls for the line and aided in Wilson being the Wildcats' first 1,000-yard rusher in 18 seasons at 1,371 yards in 10 games. Boone and FVSU also had the SIAC's top regular season total offense with 393.9 yards per game.

On the other side of the ball, Moore led the FVSU defensive unit in tackles for the second year in a row. The Ashburn, Ga., product made his first appearance on the D2CCA All-Region 2 Second Team after he made his second All-SIAC Team with 2022 First Team and 2021 Second Team status. Moore recorded The Ashburn, Ga., product paced the FVSU defense in tackles for the second year in a row at 6.5 per game (11th in SIAC) with 65. The senior also was fourth in SIAC in passes defended at 1.00 per game (10) and sixth in interception returns.

The strong safety registered 4.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, seven breakups and a fumble recovery. His highest tackle game of 10 came against SIAC Champ Benedict to go with a tackle for loss and two pass breakups. Moore added nine stops versus Kentucky State, a team-high eight tackles in win over Albany State and five tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and an interception in win over SIAC West champion Tuskegee. The veteran defender has no less than four tackles in any game.

BOXTOROW has named All-America teams since 2007 based on voting by national media who cover HBCU football.
