FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats didn't earn any style points Monday night, but they come out on top. Fort Valley State prevailed over a pesky Toccoa Falls College men's basketball team, 71-61.

Leading 42-39, FVSU ran off eight-straight points for the game's biggest lead of 11, 50-39, at 11:22 left with Rob Kendrick pumping in the last two buckets. Toccoa Falls rallied right back and cut the margin to two three times with the final at 58-56 with 4:45 remaining. Khadim Samb downed a 15-foot jumper on the next home trip and netted nine of his 15 points in the final 4:33, including a steal and dunk with 11 seconds left.

With the victory, FVSU posts its fifth win in a row for the first time since equalling the task from Jan. 28 to Feb. 11 of 2017. The Wildcats also improve to 6-4 on the year.

K.J. Doucet finished with the FVSU point lead of 16 to go with five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Samb connected on 5 of 7 tries and 5 of 6 free throws for his 15-point effort.

For the second game in a row, Joe Williams recorded a double-double with 10 points on 5 of 6 shooting and 12 rebounds, six on each end of the floor. Training 25-23 with a minute left in the first half, Doucet netted the final two buckets with the second being a 3-point play to edge out a 28-25 intermission advantage.
