Edward Waters Edges FVSU Softball in Both Contests

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats scored first in both ends of Friday's twinbill, but it failed to result in success. Fort Valley State committed a costly error in the opener and its comeback fell just short in the late contest as Edward Waters edged wins in the softball doubleheader, 3-2 and 9-7.
 
Leading 2-0 in the top of the fourth inning with two outs of game one, FVSU (3-9) saw Edward Waters (9-3) line three-straight singles, but an error plated the tying and go ahead run for a 3-2 lead. The Wildcats were only able to produced two separate singles in their final four at bats.
 
After leading early in game two, FVSU saw the fifth frame as the thorn in its side. The Tigers scored six runs on four hits and a home error to jump ahead 8-3. Destiny Fitzpatrick drove a triple down the left field line to score two of a four-run sixth for an 8-7 score.
 
Rasheedah Hasan had the hot FVSU stick with a 4 for 7 day with a run. Morghan Holland added a run-scoring double and a single, while Amaya Pagan was 2 for 3 with a RBI double in game two.
 
FVSU returns to action Saturday afternoon, Feb. 26, in another home doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. against Paine College.
