FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Wildcats opened the night with success. Fort Valley State captured the opening set, but host Emmanuel College rebounded to grab the next three sets to win the men's volleyball match in four Saturday evening.

Tied at 17 in the first set, Oshane Farquharson downed the kill for the first of three points in a row for a 20-17 FVSU (2-9) lead. The Wildcats outscored the Lions (8-8) by an 8-4 margin to post the 25-21 win.

Leading 15-14 in the second set, Emmanuel netted the next two points and an overall 10-4 burst for the 25-18 score. Holding a set number three edge of 13-11, the Lions ran off the next five points and seven of eight on the way for the 25-14 final. After FVSU pulled within a point, 21-20, on back-to-back Jamil Scott kills, the home team scored four of the final six points and 25-22 score to end the match.

Jaxson Hicks paced FVSU with 14 kills, three blocks and five digs. Scott added 12 kills, an ace and five digs, while Farquharson registered 10 kills, two blocks and six digs. Justin Yates set up 41 assists to go with four blocks and four digs. Shadrac Metayer dug eight attacks.
