COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Wildcats achieved a program first Wednesday night. After dropping the first set, Fort Valley State rallied to take the next three for a 3-1 win at Benedict College and swept the first season series in men's volleyball program history.

The Tigers (3-11/2-4 SIAC) reversed a 3-point deficit, before they ran off the final five points of the opening set for a 25-22 win. The Wildcats (3-9/3-1 SIAC) used four-straight points to take the lead (11-9), extended the margin to seven (22-15) and went on for a 25-18 set two win to tie the match.

Trailing early 3-1, FVSU went on a 10-2 spurt to open an 11-5 advantage. The visitors rode the run for the match lead with a 25-15 set number three final. Behind 25-24 in set point of the fourth, Oshane Farquharson killed a point and then two Benedict attack error ended the match of the 27-25 FVSU win and 3-1 match final.

Farquharson led the Wildcats with 17 kills, three aces, eight digs and a block. Jaxson Hicks posted 14 kills with only one error in 28 swings for a .464 percentage to go with four digs and a block. Justin Yates bested his season assist mark with 43. Shadrac Metayer added his top dug total of 10. Rashun Wright chipped in five kills and six blocks, while Saferino Dour had six kills and five blocks.

FVSU returns home to the HPE Arena for a Friday night, March 18, match against Morehouse College. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
