Tigers Early Scores Key to Series Finale over Wildcats

SAVANNAH, Ga. – A better ending could not make up for the Wildcats Sunday start. Savannah State plated seven runs in the opening two frames and held off Fort Valley State's late offense for an 11-3 win in six innings.

After scoring three in the first and four in the second, the Tigers (6-12/4-7 SIAC East) held the control. Rasheedah Hasan lined a two-out, two-run double to get the Wildcats (9-18/2-7 SIAC East) on the scoreboard. The visitors added a third tally in the top-of-the sixth when Tiffany Rose tripled and Riley Jenkins followed with a double to knock her home. Savannah State, though, finished the game early with four more runs in the home sixth to end the day.

Along with Rose's triple and Hasan and Jenkins' doubles, FVSU received singles by Laila Lavette, Amaya Pagan and Alera Buie.

FVSU will now be off until hosting Benedict College next Saturday, April 2, in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
