Wildcats Strong Early, Fall in Tough Five-Set Decision to Marauders

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats were on the court for the first time in exactly two weeks Friday night. Fort Valley State has the answers early for a two-set lead, but it saw Central State capture the momentum and not let it go until a 3-2men's volleyball win.
 
FVSU (1-7) used a run of 6-1, including the final four points to take a 25-22 first set. The Wildcats edged a 26-24 second set with the final three points off three Marauder miscues. Central State (2-10) bounced back with four of the last five points of the third set and never trailed in set number four for a 2-2 tie. The visitors, then, went out to a 5-1 advantage and allowed FVSU only to get within two points twice, before take the game-deciding set, 15-10.
 
Jaxson Hicks downed 15 kills to go with nine digs and two blocks to lead the Wildcats frontline. Jamil Scott added 11 kills, six digs, two assists, two blocks and an ace. Rashaun Wright posted 11 total blocks and four kills, while Oshane Farquharson chipped in nine kills and seven blocks. Justin Yates had a season-high 40 assists, as well as, nine digs.
 
FVSU completes its weekend matches by hosting Kentucky State in a 2 p.m. first serve at Peach County High School.
