Wildcats’ Wilson Selected to 2022 East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 List, Lone SIAC Pick

TAMPA, Fla. – The Wildcats can claim the top Conference honor in the latest list released. Fort Valley State running back Emanuel Wilson was selected to the 2022 East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 List and the lone Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference athlete of the 25 HBCU athletes picked.
 
The East-West Shrine Bowl announced its list of all-star game-eligible players who were scouted and considered the "best 1000 players" ready for the NFL. The committee selected 25 HBCU athletes from the SWAC, MEAC, Big South, and CIAA who were determined eligible for the 1000 List, 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl, and the 2023 NFL Draft.  
 
Wilson led the SIAC a year ago where he rushed for 119.3 yards per game, 835 yards on 147 attempts, in seven games at a 5.7-yard per carry clip and seven touchdowns. The redshirt junior rushed for over a 100-yards in five of those games – 27 rushes for 164 yards vs. Central State, 23 att. for 161 yards vs. Clark Atlanta, 17 att. for 130 yards vs. Savannah State, 27 carries for 122 yards vs. Benedict and finished the season as the lone 100-yard rusher of the regular season against Albany State with 108 yards on 26 rushes.
 
Wilson and the Wildcats take to the field for the first time this fall on Sunday, Sept. 4, against Tuskegee University in the 2nd Annual Red Tails Classic in Montgomery, Ala., which will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
